Cristiana Oliveira

Since 1989, Cristiana Oliveira has been featured in Brazil's most popular soap operas watched by over sixty million people in the country and later sold to over 20 countries around the world.

Cristiana started her career as Hanna in KANANGA DO JAPAO for which she received the Best Newcomer of the Year award by the Association of Actors' Critics.

By 1990 Cristiana had become the biggest and most popular soap opera star in Brazil, playing the role of JUMA in the soap opera PANTANAL. The same year she received the most prestigious awards for an actress in television, and was featured on the cover of every major magazine.

In 1991 Cristiana received the Best Actress Award at the annual Latin American Soap Opera Awards.

She played the role of a dancer in the 1992 soap opera AMAZONIA, set in the 1900’s. In that same year, she switched networks moving to the largest Latin American network, TV GLOBO, where she starred in the prime time soap opera CORPO E ALMA.

In the following year, Cristiana dedicated her time to the theatre. Her first play BATE OUTRA VEZ, a story based on TRISTAN AND ISOLDA by Richard Wagner, toured the country and was watched by over 60,000 people. She then appeared as Helen of Troy in the Greek tragedy TROIA, based on TROJAN WOMEN by Euripides, which was praised by the critics and had an extended run.

She returned to television in 1994 starring in the miniseries MEMORIAL DE MARIA MOURA as a shy and innocent young woman who captured the hearts of the Brazilian people.

In 1995 Cristiana received once again the award for Best Television Actress for her multi‑faceted performance in the comedy QUATRO POR QUATRO.

Her success in soap operas continued in 1995/1996 in SALSA E MERENGUE (directed by Wolf Maia) where she played the call girl Adriana. In 1996/1997 she starred in CORPO DOURADO (directed by Ricardo Waddington and Roberto Naar) in the role of the cowgirl Selena. In 1999 she played Pilar in VILA MADALENA (directed by Jorge Fernando) and in 2000 she was in PORTO DOS MILAGRES (directed by Marcos Paulo and Roberto Naar) playing Eulália, an embroideress from Bahia in the 1950's.

In 2001 she starred in the theater playing Mary in THE PASSION PLAY in New Jerusalem with other 500 actors and 9 different stages in a massive theater resembling old Jerusalem.

In 2001/2002 she was back to prime time as Alicinha in THE CLONE directed by Jayme Monjardim and Marcos Schechtman.

In 2002/2003 she was again on stage as Luiza in the play PEQUENO DICIONÁRIO AMOROSO (directed by Jorge Fernando), and once more she played the role of Mary in THE PASSION PLAY.

In 2003, again in TV GLOBO, she did a special part in KUBANACAN (directed by Wolf Maia) as Helena, a secret agent.

Cristiana is also involved in movies. In 1990 she starred in OS TRAPALHÕES E A ÁRVORE DA JUVENTUDE (directed by José Alvarenga). In 2004 she was featured as Angélica in the movie NOSSA SENHORA DO CARAVAGGIO (directed by Fábio Barreto) and in GATÃO DE MEIA IDADE (directed by Antonio Carlos da Fontoura) as the biker Sandrão. 

In 2006 she starred in the play MILLOR IMPOSSÍVEL and the TV comedy series A DIARISTA.

In 2007 she played the wife of Bento, a character that spans the 3 phases of the epic TV miniseries AMAZONIA - DE GALVEZ A CHICO MENDES (directed by Marcos Schechtman).
